3. Take sensible security precautions by avoiding displays of jewelry or money; take extra care at banks and money machines; beware of pickpockets, especially in malls, train stations.
4. Medical advice should be sought regarding malaria.
5. Leave a copy of your passport and itinerary with a contact in your country.
6. Enjoy your visit and respect any local laws and customs, which are usually well documented in guidebooks.
7. Don't carry drugs, penalties can be severe.
8. Don't overstay your visa. Review the security of the place, where you are staying.
9. Keep the doors locked and windows secure when in your car.
10. Avoid traveling alone at night. When taking a taxi, use one from a reputable firm, preferably booked by phone. For longer journeys it is a sensible precaution to notify friends of travel plans, contact them on arrival.
11. If you want to take part in water sports and scuba diving in Indonesia, become aware that rescue services are not as comprehensive as other developed countries.
12. Entry to Indonesia may be refused and airlines may not carry passengers holding passports with less than 6 months validity.
Overstaying without the proper authority is a serious matter and visitors can be held in detention or refused permission to leave the country until a fine is paid.
13. The standard of local medical care is uneven. Some medical tests cannot be done reliably in country.
